So for oh i don’t know how many years now, my friends have always requested i bring guacamole to our gatherings. Not to brag or anything but they claim it is the best and yet it has to be one of the easiest recipes ever! Well i thought with Cinco De Mayo, it would only be fitting i share this incredibly easy recipe with you. Enjoy!
Mary’s World Famous Surprisingly Easy Guacamole Recipe
4 Nice ripe avocadoes
1/2 medium size white onion finely chopped
1 to 2 Jalapenos depending on size and your heat preference (i prefer serranos) finely chopped and yes i keep the seeds and membrane but you can remove if you have “heat” issues
1 medium size tomato chopped small
1/2 fresh lime
salt
pepper
garlic powder
cilantro (optional)
So first up, open and get that avocado goodness in a bowl. I like to smash it it a bit before adding the remainder of the ingredients. I do not smash till smooth, a little texture makes this dip amazing. Next up add the onion, jalapeno or serrano, the tomato and the juice of half a lime. Then add the salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Now i do not have measurements on these because truely it is up to your taste. I do not like to use fresh garlic because i don’t like how it kind of takes over the flavor of the avocados. I will say i am very generous with the powder though. I am a bit of a salt-a-holic, so salt and pepper then taste and adjust according. I do like cilantro but alot do not so the choice is yours. Seriously, that is it! so easy and so tasty so i hope you give it a try. Oh and here is another great tip, if you are using a bag of tortilla chips, pour them out of the bag and microwave them in a bowl for about a minute. They taste so amazing! Even better in the oven at 250 till warm.
Happy Cinco De Mayo
